Hockey has always been a big part of the culture at Crossdock Systems and many of our staff are avid hockey fans. Since we are in the Toronto area there are many Leafs fans, but the Red Wings, Sharks, Canadians and of course my favourite team, 2011 champions, the Boston Bruins are all well represented in the office. We have Jersey Fridays so that staff can show their support for their teams. We also sponsor minor hockey league teams each season in and around the Greater Toronto Area.

In the NHL, teams measure many areas of their game; special teams, puck possession, shot blocking, team defence. But what really matters is winning the cup.

That’s how they compare to the competition, that’s how they judge the success of their season and all of the hard work they put in throughout the course of the year.

In business it is difficult to know what the right measure of success is. Is it bottom line? Is it customer retention? Is it employee retention? Is it revenue growth?

PROFIT Magazine has chosen five-year revenue growth as the measure for their annual PROFIT 200 ranking of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies. Prolonged revenue growth is a good measure of a business’s success because it is achieved only through the success that comes from each separate area of the business. Customer acquisition is important to growth but five-year growth relies on a high percentage of customer retention as well. Employee retention is important to create the culture and structure that makes it easy to add to the team as new hires are made to keep up with growth. Margin and cashflow have to be maintained in order to ensure that the growth is sustainable.

In the 24th annual PROFIT 200 ranking of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies by PROFIT Magazine, Crossdock was ranked 99th with a five-year revenue growth rate of 483%. This recognition of the success of our business is appreciated and shared by the entire Crossdock team. Our success can be attributed to our staff and the world-class effort that they put in to every part of our business every day.

In the year that the LA Kings win their first Stanley Cup it is appropriate that Crossdock is ranked 99, the number of the Kings franchise’ most famous player. We don’t get to hoist a cup and skate around an arena but we are proud of our accomplishment and look forward to continued success. We congratulate the Los Angeles Kings organization as well as all of the team at Crossdock Systems Inc.
